artist statement
My practice primarily encompasses figurative drawing and painting, and increasingly object-based work. I often depict hands, nature, objects, and people, with a particular interest in details, gestures, relationships, and the extraordinary within the everyday. Fragments play an important role in my work. Through isolation, displacement, and staging, I remove motifs from their original context to open up new connections and associations. Familiar situations, bodies, figures, objects, and structures become carriers of affect, memory, and projection.
